Indigenous Engagement
Indigenous Engagement
WBHO CIVIL considers indigenous engagement to be more than meeting a percentage workforce target. In addition to encouraging indigenous employment opportunities, the company believes in supporting the community at grass roots level and providing real business opportunity to facilitate social and economic outcomes.
The company offers indigenous traineeships for plant operations and administration and looking to expand these opportunities to incorporate our OHSE, workshops and concrete operations. Implementing the successful WBHO model of indigenous empowerment, WBHO Civil will be striving to increase our engagement through the provision of bursaries and project partnering opportunities. Additionally WBHO CIVIL has supported, and will continue to support and sponsor, community events.
Examples of such include:
- Assistance with funeral preparations at communities across the Pilbara;
- Logistic coordination/organization of equipment for community upgrade works at Ngurawaana
- Supporter of the annual Roebourne Women’s Day workshop;
- Supporter of the Rio Tinto dehydration in community’s project;
- Provision of materials and labour for community projects;
- Sponsor of the Karratha Clontarf Football Academy.
WBHO CIVIL is committed to engaging local Indigenous sub-contractors on the projects we undertake. These companies play an integral part in the delivery of our projects. Through partnering opportunities WBHO CIVIL intention is to assist in the growth of these businesses, ensuring long term sustainability from both a social and economic perspective.
